Our story

Born of a healthy appreciation for life’s indulgences and a love of slow Sunday afternoons in the kitchen, Sunday Bakeshop is the bébé of a passionate home baker with a penchant for (read: obsession with) French macarons.

Why macarons? Well, darling, why settle for ordinary when you can create something extraordinary?

Largely self-taught, our pâtissière attended a couple of macaron making classes – one of which was in Paris – before setting out to turn her home kitchen into a veritable macaron laboratory. Determined to master the meticulous art of macaron making, she dedicated herself to the cause. Countless hours in the kitchen, unfathomable amounts of confectioners sugar and almond flour, and years of trial, error, and sometimes tears, eventually paid off.

Along the way she came to realize that most commercial bakeries’ macarons are, real talk, mediocre at best and tend to stick to the same handful of standard flavors. Our pâtissière decided to go rogue once again and not only create the inspired macaron flavors, colors, and textures she knew were possible, but to liberate macarons from the stuffy patisserie and make them accessible and approachable to the home baker.
